A law firm that has worked with Apple now could be in possession of the iPad3.com domain.
Fusible yesterday reported that the Whois record for the domain name has modified, and now, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton (KTS), a multinational law firm, owns it. KTS has represented Apple within the past, most notably serving to the corporate in its legal fight against Psystar, the Florida company that was selling computers running Mac OS X.
It's not clear what Apple needs with the iPad3.com domain. Apple buys a bunch of domain names associated with product it sells, and will nothing substantial with them. The purchases are designed solely to make sure that no different company will benefit of its intellectual property. Back in might, for instance, Apple took management of the iPhone5.com domain, when a maneuver within which whole protection agency Corporation Service Company initial took over the domain from an iPhone-focused forum web site. That web site currently has no content.Although the Whois record does not show Apple because the domain's owner, it's quite doable that the corporate can soon take it over. DomainWire reported last month thatApple filed a case with the globe Intellectual Property Organization to require management of the domain from its then-owner world Access from Isle of Man. It seems that no matter Apple and its attorneys did, it worked.
CNET has contacted Apple for inquire into the domain. we are going to update this story once we have additional data.
